We're running a recruitment and training programme to fill up to 10,000 network construction jobs. This is all part of our mission to bring full fibre Internet connectivity to up to 8 million premises across 100 UK towns and cities.

Our priority is to provide local jobs for people who live in or near the towns and cities we’ve identified for rollout. Full training is provided and once complete, each candidate will be equipped with strong earning potential and long-term career opportunities in a sector that is critical to the UK’s future.

Who we’re looking for

We need thousands of people to help build our networks and be part of upgrading the UK’s digital infrastructure. Opportunities are available for experienced construction workers as well as those seeking career changes and training opportunities. We’re working hard to attract more women and individuals from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, both of which are significantly under-represented in the construction industry.

Types of roles available

Full training will be provided for roles including: aerial fibre operatives, underground cabling operatives, fibre engineers and civils operatives. Jobs will be created within CityFibre’s growing pool of network construction partners. Each construction partner is responsible for delivering against contracts that will run for up to 7 years. This means long term opportunities for those who complete the selection and training process.

The recruitment process

We’re running the screening and training stages of the programme in order to help provide our network construction partners with the workforce they need. Interested individuals can begin their application now, with ample opportunity to ask questions later.

Industry-leading training

Following a successful initial interview, full training will be provided by one of our specialist partners at a regional training centre. Recruits will receive professional qualifications including selected overhead and underground PIA accreditation. They’ll also receive training for other qualifications including NRSWA Civils and CityFibre’s own technical training certification (awarded via NCFE). Subject to final stages, those who secure the required qualifications will go on to work with one of our construction partners.

Job locations

We’re recruiting for roles right across the UK. 62 towns and cities have already been announced and more will follow. In total we expect to build in around 100 towns and cities. The screening process will match individuals with opportunities in areas that best suit their individual circumstances and availability of work.

Our programme partners

We’re working with established employment, recruitment and training partners to deliver this programme. We’re also talking to local authorities and specialist organisations, including the Department of Work and Pensions, the Construction Industry Training Board, Veterans’ Employment Transition Support and the Women’s Engineering Society.
