UK’s flagship 100% pure fibre Internet service
provider, Gigler, is contender in Fixed Urban Networks category

CityFibre, a leading UK
independent fibre infrastructure provider, is delighted to announce that it has
been short-listed for a prestigious NextGen 13 Award. The entry for its
Internet service provider, Gigler and its unique ‘Gigabit for all’ approach to
business and consumer broadband, has been short-listed in the Fixed Urban
Networks category.

“We are very proud that Gigler is
a short-listed finalist for a NextGen 13 award. The choice reflects Gigler’s
revolutionary offering which provides
both residents and businesses with affordable Gigabit speeds, delivering an
unbeatable internet experience that transforms the way the Web can be used in
both the home and at work
,”
says Greg Mesch, Chief Executive Officer at
CityFibre.

Delivered over CityFibre’s 100%
pure fibre 21,000-property FTTP network in Bournemouth, Gigler is the UK’s
flagship true fibre service, providing all
customers with up to 1 Gigabit per second download speeds (100x the UK’s average)
and up to 500 Megabits per second upload speeds (200x the UK’s average). This
unique approach stems from the belief that everyone should be able to enjoy the
best possible broadband speed regardless of how much they use the web or their
budget. Gigler’s pricing structure is based on usage, rather than speed,
meaning customers are not forced to accept lower quality for a cheaper price.

Gigler’s Gigabit services enable
all members of a household to enjoy an ultrafast internet connection
simultaneously via multiple devices, without loss of speed.  With waiting for ‘buffering’ a thing of the
past, Gigler customers are watching more TV and films online, as well as playing
more games online. With upload speeds up to 200x faster than the UK’s average,
the ability to upload bigger files, faster, is enabling more people to work
from home.

For businesses who want to benefit from Gigabit
speeds, the Gigler Business Broadband service is also being launched.

Rob Hamlin, Director of Business
Development at CityFibre commented: “The
introduction of our Gigabit speed Gigler Business Broadband service will enable
businesses in Bournemouth to take advantage of next-generation services such as
cloud computing and online back-up. Gigabit speeds greatly increase efficiency
and productivity, and will enable businesses to compete both now and in the
future, against companies from all over the world. Following our win of the
NextGen 12 award for Collaborative Advantage last year, we are delighted to be
short-listed for another award this year.”

The final award decision will be
announced at the NextGen 13 conference dinner on 14th October in
London.
