Citizen, a social housing provider, is partnering with CityFibre to help more than 18,000 customers access next-generation digital connectivity.

CityFibre, the UK’s third national digital infrastructure platform, will be working with Citizen to install full fibre to properties across Coventry.

Citizen owns and manages homes for diverse communities across the West Midlands. This agreement will ensure CityFibre’s full fibre network build can continue to go ahead smoothly, meaning residents across Coventry will be among those able to sign-up for a Gigabit-speed full fibre broadband connection.

Full fibre networks are recognised as the digital infrastructure of the future for both homes and businesses. With near unlimited bandwidth, full fibre will ensure households can utilise the latest smart home technology, stream entertainment across multiple devices and make it easier to work from home, with virtually no buffering or lagging.

Sanjay Sudra, CityFibre’s Strategic Wayleave Manager, said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has shown, more than ever, just how vital a fit-for-purpose connection is for work, play and keeping in touch. The agreement we have reached with Citizen will make a genuine difference to thousands of people living in properties across the city.

“We look forward to working with even more housing associations across the country to help their tenants take advantage of the benefits of Full Fibre.”

Liz Bloomfield, Portfolio Manager at Citizen, added: “It’s great news that around 18,500 of our customers and tenants will have access to next-generation digital connectivity, which is increasingly important to so many aspects of our life, from working effectively at home and socialising to entertainment.

“It’s vital that our homes have access to the best broadband available and I’m really pleased we’re already working towards our homes having futureproof Gigabit-capable broadband speeds.”

CityFibre is investing £60m in Coventry’s full fibre network which continues to gather pace. CityFibre is already working with launch partner, Vodafone, TalkTalk and Zen, with additional ISPs expected to join the network soon.

Those interested in full fibre broadband can pre-register their interest with CityFibre to receive information when services are available, or check their postcode to see if services are currently available: cityfibre.com/residential
