CityFibre appoints George Wareing as Sales Director

CityFibre, the UK’s largest alternative provider of wholesale full-fibre network infrastructure, has appointed George Wareing as Sales Director. George brings 18 years of experience in the cable and mobile sectors. This included 15 years at Virgin Media Business where he built an industry-leading commercial team and transformed the mobile backhaul market through a £100million national backhaul deal with MBNL. He left Virgin Media Business to become UK Sales Director for Telecity Group in 2014 (now Equinix), where he led many record contract wins. In his new role at CityFibre, George will be focused on leading the sales and business development team to drive growth across the carrier, wholesale channel, mobile and public sectors. George said: “My immediate priority will be our teams and partners to ensure we’re delivering the best possible service. In parallel will be the creation of strong new partnerships that help accelerate CityFibre’s role in the UK’s full-fibre digital revolution and disrupt Openreach’s unmerited dominance in the market. “CityFibre has a simple strategy, that’s both scalable and uniquely positioned to meet challenges faced by the UK and our industry. As an alternative, full-fibre, communications infrastructure provider, we have the ability to transform digital infrastructure, alter the status quo for the benefit of all and meet rising demand and expectations for better service and affordable gigabit connectivity. As Sales Director, I’m looking forward to playing a lasting and significant role in this journey.” Rob Hamlin, Commercial Director, CityFibre, said: “George is one of the most respected and highly sought-after Sales Directors in the industry. His achievements in previous roles are renowned and this appointment marks a significant milestone in CityFibre’s ambitions to transform digital infrastructure in the UK. “With George on board, we are in the best position to secured fast-paced, well-scaled strategic growth with a focus on developing high performing teams and customer satisfaction. He will be an asset to the team and we’re all delighted that he joins CityFibre at such a pivotal time as we focus on accelerating the number of Gigabit Cities across the UK.” For more information, visit www.CityFibre.com ENDS Issued on behalf of CityFibre by Weber Shandwick, PR Consultants for CityFibre.
