At CityFibre, we thought it would be a great idea to have a theme each month linked to our Charity of the Year, Mind. January’s theme was “Physical activity, sport and mental health”. We provided staff with information on how being active could improve mental health and well-being. The benefits include:

  • Reduced anxiety and happier mood
  • Reduced feelings of stress
  • Clearer thinking
  • A great sense of calm
  • Increased self-esteem
  • Reduced risk of depression

During January, we also started our initiative of taking lunchtime walks together. This is a great opportunity to do something fun with colleagues and clear our minds. We also encouraged staff to sign up for a physical activity-related fundraising event for Mind. We have keen interest to partake in several fun runs, the Three Peak Challenge and a sky dive so far!
