International manufacturing company uses gigabit connection to underpin growth

How a Gigabit connection revolutionised the way they processed orders, communicate globally and service their customers.

Background

Masteroast Coffee Company Ltd is an independently owned coffee roasting and packing facility and has offered a range of coffees and private label packing solutions since 1981. Roasting and shipping around 4,000 tonnes of coffee annually to more than 600 customers from their modern, well-equipped premises in Peterborough, Masteroast are set to offer the widest range of coffees in the UK. Boasting one of the best-equipped QA (quality assurance) laboratories in the business, Masteroast ensures that quality control is maintained to the highest level. Relying heavily on a reliable, fast internet connection for swift online ordering and transferring of artwork files, Masteroast found their existing internet connection was not enough to keep up with their growing business.

Challenge

Masteroast needed improved communications with worldwide suppliers and high data capabilities associated with brand graphics for the private label products it manufactures. Furthermore, Masteroast’s continued expansion includes e-commerce fulfilment and general logistics, much of which is reliant upon high volume data systems and flexible telecommunications.

Solution

Connecting to CityFibre’s Gigabit speed fibre network in Peterborough via local service provider GreenCity Solutions, has transformed Masteroast’s business. This single pure-fibre connection completely eliminated the need for separate lines, and with the installation of a new VoIP phone system, now their telephone and data run on one ultra-fast connection. No longer restricted by slow, outdated infrastructure, online sales have since increased. Operating at Gigabit speeds has improved the service provided by the design team, as all files are backed up to the Cloud and can easily be transferred both to and from customers. One of the greatest advantages of being connected to a fast, reliable network has been the ability for technicians based in Germany to access their roasting machine, one of the most advanced in the UK, via an online connection. This means that they can perform diagnostics and repairs remotely which has significantly reduced downtime and travelling costs. Andy Fawkes, Managing Director at Masteroast said: “The International nature of our business means that online communication is vital. Connecting to the Gigabit network has allowed continued growth and has streamlined our communication, keeping costs low. The ability to react to our customers’ requirements for more immediate access to our services is crucial” “We can communicate to our customers in a number of different countries via Skype; by connecting to CityFibre’s network we have not only saved money on our connection and communication but have also seen an increase in sales.” For more information on how ultra-fast connectivity can benefit your business, register your interest today at www.cityfibre.com/peterborough
