10 September, London: CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent Full Fibre platform, has announced Wildcard Networks has joined its Full Fibre networks to deliver Gigabit home broadband services in Newcastle, North Tyneside, and Gateshead. CityFibre is currently engaged in an up to £4 billion Gigabit City Investment Programme and Wildcard will be the latest consumer internet service provider (ISP) to become a customer.

Newcastle-based ISP Wildcard Networks, will be joining CityFibre’s rapidly expanding national network, enabling it to offer residents dependable, ultra-fast Full Fibre broadband at competitive prices through its Fibreconnect brand. Wildcard Networks has been providing regionally focused connectivity services since 2007 primarily focused at business customers and resellers; the Fibreconnect brand compliments this focus as they grow into the consumer marketplace.

Lee Johnston, Managing Director at Wildcard Networks said: “We are excited to partner with CityFibre, bringing future-proof Full Fibre broadband to our local communities through Fibreconnect. The impact of COVID has shown the importance of good connectivity in the home and through working in partnership with CityFibre we can reach many premises within the Newcastle, North Tyneside and Gateshead areas offering reliable, fast and cost-effective internet access.”

Jason Legget, Regional Partnership Director at CityFibre, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Wildcard Networks onto our platform through their Fibreconnect brand. This is fantastic news for people across the North East as it means they will have further choice when upgrading their home connectivity to Full Fibre.

“For CityFibre, this is further evidence of the competition we have lacked in the UK which will lead to greater product innovation, a faster deployment for full fibre and overall better consumer outcomes.”
